This weekend in Houston

To celebrate the diversity of Houston, Texas and the beautiful architecture of its downtown skyline, a massive street painting, spanning an entire city block, will be produced at the 7th annual Houston Via Colori® Street Painting Festival this weekend. This exciting addition will be the focal point of the festival and will feature original artwork depicting the four corners of the Houston Skyline. This colossal project will be lead by Douglas Rouse, who will work with over 40 local Houston architectural students and local artists to complete the piece. Via Colori benefits The Center for Hearing and Speech. This year’s presenting sponsor is Lynn Energy. “I have been a participating chalk artist and a featured artist at Via Colori Houston in the past but this is by far my biggest challenge. Thank you to Lisa Benitez and Katherine Schaafs for all of their hard work on this massive undertaking.” -Douglas Rouse

Young Presidents Org.

This snowboarding chalk art piece was part of the entertainment at the Young Presidents Organization gathering at the Colorado Convention Center on February 25, 2011. It covers an area of about 400 sq. ft. Viewers were able to stand on the real snowboard and get their photo taken. Special thanks to Starkey Productions.

Art Auction

Due to the recent hit-and-run loss of the Rouse66 mobile we are in action to move some art for a good cause, and at a good price. The auction will be held at the INKQB8TOR on Saturday, March 5, 2011, starting at 9pm sharp. If you’ve ever wanted a Rouse Original, now’s the time (to save big bucks). The artwork up for auction will consist of bodies of work from both Douglas and Mallori Rouse.

Speed Painting at the Heart Ball

Quoted as being “the most versatile artist in Colorado” Rouse continues to reinvent himself for new occasions. This year, on February 12th, at the Broadmoor, he was the featured artist of the 2011 American Heart Association’s Heart Ball, astonishing the public with his live speed painting. Speed painting is done on a large canvas, with fingers, and usually completed in minutes.
